Parent’s Page – Edition 9

Tina Romberger   -

We are changing the dates of our Easter Vacation.  Easter Vacation will now begin on Friday, March 29th (Good Friday) and go through Friday, April 5th.  School will resume on Monday, April 8th.

Pastor and Mrs. Rossi have faithfully served our Granite Baptist Church and school families for the past 11 years and are officially launching into full-time traveling Evangelism beginning this month.  We would like to invite all of our school families to attend their farewell luncheon on Sunday, January 7th immediately following our morning church service.  The luncheon will be in the school gymnasium and is free for all GBC and GBS families.  If you have been blessed by the ministry and service of Pastor and Mrs. Rossi, please come to this free luncheon to honor them.  Please RSVP by using this link:

Chick-fil-a order forms are being sent home today and the form and fee are due back on Tuesday, January 9th for lunch on Friday, January 12th.

Our boys and girls basketball seasons are off to an amazing start.  We have already enjoyed several games of exciting competition.  In order to make our home basketball games as fun as possible, we would like to offer a full concessions menu at each and every home game.  In order to do this, we need help from our school parents.  If you are available to volunteer your time for a couple of hours in our concession stand at one of our home basketball games, please contact the School Office.

School will be closed on Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Secondary students will be taking Semester Exams on Tuesday, January 16th – Friday, January 19th.  Please review the letter that was given to all secondary students today. Please encourage your child to spend time studying in preparation for these exams. The exam schedule is as follows:

Tuesday-         5th and 3rd period exams

Wednesday-    2nd and 4th period exams

Thursday-        1st and 7th period exams

Friday-             6th and 8th period exams

Secondary students will be dismissed at 11:45 am on exam days.  Students not picked up by 12:00 noon will be assigned to a study hall for the remainder of the day.

Students may stay after school for home games with the following guidelines:  1) Only students in grades 7-12 may stay after school for a game without being accompanied by a parent.  2) All secondary students staying after school need to report to the gym bleachers by 3:20 and be subject to the Aftercare policy.  3) No student is allowed to leave the gym (going to Royal Farms, etc.Granite Baptist School will not be responsible for the safety of students who leave our campus with or without our knowledge.  4) Students who stay after school for a game will be required to pay the established gate fee ($2.00/students; $3.00/adults).  5) Students attending a game must be in school approved attire.  6) Students staying for a game must have a ride to pick them up as soon as the game concludes, or they will be sent to our Aftercare program and the corresponding fees will be applied.

As a reminder to our athletes, students must be in school by no later than 10:15 am the day of a game (unless at a doctor’s appointment) in order to participate.

If you (or your child) ever misplace the bi-weekly Parents’ Page, you can view it online at and click the Parents’ Page link.

If GBS is closed or has a delayed opening, you can be notified the following ways:  School Cast messaging; our website; our phone messaging 410-761-1118 option 3.

A table has been set up outside the School Office for parents to drop off forgotten materials.  All materials such as homework, books, clothing, projects, lunch boxes, etc. must be labeled with the child’s name and grade level. The front office staff will notify your student’s teacher that the materials are at the front office for the student to pick up.  For the lower grades (K3-K5) one of our teacher aides will deliver the materials to your child’s classroom.

Please remember that students who are ill or have a fever are not permitted to attend class and should not be brought to school.  A child who wakes up with a fever and is given Tylenol is still a sick child.  Please do not send your child to school within a 24 hour period of fever, vomiting or diarrhea.  No student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will be allowed to remain in school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
