FALL SPIRIT DAY– FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11TH
We are planning our eighth annual Fall Spirit Day for all students in 1st – 12th grade. We have scheduled a boys soccer game at 12:00 against Calvary, a JV girls volleyball game at 1:00 and a girls varsity volleyball game at 2:00. Thank you for your support of Granite athletics. Let’s go Braves!
PSAT – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16th
Students in the 10th and 11th grades will be administered the PSAT test on Wednesday, October 16th. The PSAT will not only allow us to judge your child’s academic progress up to this point, but will also help to prepare them for the SAT. Parents should ensure students taking the test get as much rest as possible and eat a nutritious meal the morning of the test.
GRANDPARENTS’ DAY – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th
Again this year we are planning a Fall Harvest Festival for our Grandparents. Parents, we need your help in order to make this day a success! If you would be willing to volunteer, please contact the School Office. Please make sure you R.S.V.P. if your child’s grandparents will be attending so we can prepare. The cost is $3.00 per child and grandparents are free. School will dismiss at 12:00 noon on this date and Aftercare will not be available.
When writing checks for your children please do not combine your checks for tuition, lunchroom, field trips, etc. Please write separate checks or pay with cash. Credit card payments can be made online through our website www.granitebaptistschool.org. Thank you!
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, during the childhood years it is extremely important to ensure children are eating properly. This not only includes the quality of meals but the frequency as well. The school day can be both mentally and physically taxing and is too long to go without eating a meal unless the child has consciously decided that he or she wishes to commit that time to prayer and fasting. With that in mind, it is the policy of GBS to never allow a child to go hungry if they forgot to bring their lunch or do not have money to purchase one. In the event a child does not have a lunch, he or she will be provided a sandwich and a carton of milk for the cost of $1.75.
School standard dress must be worn for all school activities. Students are not allowed to change out of their school uniform for any reason other than P.E. or sports practice. Students who are not leaving school immediately after P.E. or practice must change back into their school uniform for aftercare and/or games. Important: Parents please remember that gym shoes for indoor P.E. and for rainy day recess must have a non-marking sole. We recommend Velcro fastened shoes if your child cannot tie his/her shoes.
Please remember that students who are ill or have a fever are not permitted to attend class and should not be brought to school. A child who wakes up with a fever and is given Tylenol is still a sick child. Please do not send your child to school within a 24 hour period of fever, vomiting or diarrhea. No student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will be allowed to remain in school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Parents, we are in need of your assistance in various areas throughout the school year. Please see the attached form and note any area where you would be willing to help.
