Edition 7 – December 6, 2019

Tonight is our annual school-wide Christmas Concert entitled “Follow the Star”. All students in K3-6th grade as well as the high school band, choir and drama students will be performing. Students 1st grade and up should be dressed in “performance attire” as outlined on page 80 of the Student & Parent Handbook. The concert will start at 7:00 pm. See you there!

Picture make-up day is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10th for students who were absent or need a retake. Pictures must be taken in school uniform.

We have an annual Christmas tradition at Granite Baptist School of providing needed items to the Baltimore Rescue Mission. This year we have attached their wish list and hope to collect as many of the requested items as possible. If you are interested in contributing, please send in the items to the School Office by Tuesday, December 17th. Thank you for your generosity!

Parents, please remember the speed limit on our parking lot is 5 mph at all times. When dropping off please pull all the way down to the second stop sign at the back of the gym. Please do not drive around to the School Office through either one of the rear exits. Children are not expecting cars to be driven on the parking lot during the school day. All parents should park out front and walk in to the School Office. This is for the safety of all our children. Thank you!

Just a reminder, the last day of school is Friday, December 20th. Come in and join us for Christmas Chapel starting at 8:30 am. School will re-open Monday, January 6th. The School Office will be closed from 12:30 pm on December 20th until 8:00 am on January 6th. There will be NO AFTERCARE on Friday, December 20th.

If you (or your child) ever misplace the bi-weekly Parents’ Page, you can view it online at www.granitebaptistschool.org and click the Parents’ Page link.

Students may stay after school for home games with the following guidelines: 1) Only students in grades 7-12 may stay after school for a game without being accompanied by a parent. 2) All students staying after school need to report to the gym bleachers by 3:15 and be subject to the Aftercare policy. 3) No student is to leave the gym (going to Royal Farms, etc.) unless they have written permission from their parents and permission from the Aftercare monitor. Granite Baptist School will not be responsible for the safety of students who leave our campus with or without our knowledge. 4) Students who stay after school for a game will be required to pay the established gate fee. 5) Students attending a game must be in school approved attire. 6) Students staying for a game must have a ride to pick them up as soon as the game concludes.

As a reminder to our athletes, students must be in school by no later than 10:15 am the day of a game (unless at a doctor’s appointment) in order to participate.

If GBS is closed or has a delayed opening, you can be notified the following ways: School Cast messaging; our website www.granitebaptistschool.org; our phone messaging 410-761-1118 option 2 and option 2 again; WBAL-TV Channel 11; WRBS radio FM 95.1 and WBAL radio AM 1090.

Please remember that students who are ill or have a fever are not permitted to attend class and should not be brought to school. A child who wakes up with a fever and is given Tylenol is still a sick child. Please do not send your child to school within a 24 hour period of fever, vomiting or diarrhea. No student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will be allowed to remain in school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

School standard dress must be worn for all school activities. Students are not allowed to change out of their school uniform for any reason other than P.E. or sports practice. Students who are not leaving school immediately after P.E. or practice must change back into their school uniform for aftercare and/or games. Important: Parents please remember that gym shoes for indoor P.E. and for rainy day recess must have a non-marking sole. We recommend Velcro fastened shoes if your child cannot tie his/her shoes.
