STANDARDIZED TESTING – APRIL 17th – 21st
Beginning Monday, April 17th, students in K5 – 9th grade will be taking the Stanford Achievement Test, 10th edition, and the Otis-Lennon Ability Test, 8th edition. The Stanford 10 is a norm-referenced standardized test. This means that your child’s scores provide a comparison of his or her performance to that of thousands of other students who take the same test.
The test includes many of the subjects that your child is taught in school. Your child will be tested in reading, language, mathematics, science, and social science. Depending on your child’s grade level, he or she may also be tested in listening, study skills, and/or spelling.
To best prepare your child for this important week of testing, please:
- Have your child get a good night’s sleep.
- Provide a good breakfast. Test-taking uses a lot of energy.
- Arrive on time each morning so your child is not rushed.
- Remind your child to listen carefully to the directions that are given for the test and follow them exactly.
- Encourage your child to do his or her best. Even if some parts of the test seem hard, keep trying and do not give up.
Test results and a Guidesheet For Interpreting Test Results will be enclosed with the final report card.
AFTERCARE SCHEDULE CHANGE – Tuesday, April 25th
Parents, please note that we need to cancel our aftercare for Tuesday, April 25th. This is due to a mandatory training for our staff being conducted by Anne Arundel County police. We apologize for any inconvenience.
ENROLLMENT FOR 2023-2024
A registration fee of $200 per child must be paid before your child’s re-enrollment can be processed. If we do not have that fee by April 30th you will have missed the early registration fee deadline. All current families processed after April 30th will have to pay a fee of $250 per child as stated in your enrollment packet.
Some classes may fill quickly, so we encourage you to register early.
VISITOR POLICY
Parents, if for any reason you need to come to school during the day, please remember to check in at the School Office in the gymnasium. No parent or family member should attempt to approach a classroom before first checking in with the School Office. You must sign your name on our register and receive a visitor pass before proceeding to your child’s classroom. This is part of our school security policy and ensures that we have a record of everyone on our campus at all times. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
SICK POLICY
Please remember that students who are ill or have a fever are not permitted to attend class and should not be brought to school. A child who wakes up with a fever and is given Tylenol is still a sick child. Please do not send your child to school within a 24 hour period of fever, vomiting or diarrhea. No student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will be allowed to remain in school. Thank you for your cooperation.
