GBS CHRISTMAS CONCERT – Friday, December 16th
Friday, December 16th is our annual school-wide Christmas Concert entitled “Christmas Carol”. All students in K3-6th grade as well as the high school choir and select drama students will be performing. Students 1st grade and up should be dressed in “performance attire” as outlined on page 80 of the Student & Parent Handbook. The concert will start at 7:00 pm. See you there!
SECONDARY AFTERCARE – HOME BASKETBALL GAMES
Students may stay after school for home games with the following guidelines: 1) Only students in grades 7-12 may stay after school for a game without being accompanied by a parent. 2) All students staying after school need to report to the gym bleachers by 3:15 and be subject to the Aftercare policy. 3) No student is allowed to leave the gym (going to Royal Farms, etc.) Granite Baptist School will not be responsible for the safety of students who leave our campus with or without our knowledge. 4) Students who stay after school for a game will be required to pay the established gate fee ($2.00/students; $3.00/adults). 5) Students attending a game must be in school approved attire. 6) Students staying for a game must have a ride to pick them up as soon as the game concludes, or they will be sent to our Aftercare program and the corresponding fees will be applied.
STUDENT ATHLETE GUIDELINES
As a reminder to our athletes, students must be in school by no later than 10:15 am the day of a game (unless at a doctor’s appointment) in order to participate.
Just a reminder, the last day of school is Wednesday, December 21st. Come in and join us for Christmas Chapel starting at 8:30 am. School will re-open Thursday, January 5th. The School Office will be closed from December 22nd until 8:00 am on January 5th.
PARENTS’ PAGE AVAILABLE ON LINE
If you (or your child) ever misplace the bi-weekly Parents’ Page, you can view it online at granitebaptistschool.org and click the Parents’ Page link.
If GBS is closed or has a delayed opening, you can be notified the following ways: School Cast messaging; our website www.granitebaptistschool.org; our phone messaging 410-761-1118 option 2 and option 2 again.
Parents, as a reminder the speed limit on our parking lot is 5 mph at all times. We ask that drivers use extreme caution and always yield to children. Please do not attempt to bypass the orange cones once they have been placed. If arriving after 8:14 am, please park out front and walk your child to the School Office.
STUDENT DROP-OFF—STOP, DROP & ROLL
During morning drop off there is only one lane for drop off in the back parking lot. K3- K5 and 2nd grade parents should use the lane directly in front of the Kindergarten modular for drop off. If there is no line, please pull all the way down to the kindergarten porch and then drop off your child; do not stop at the ramp and drop off as this causes a backup. Children 3rd grade and up should be dropped off in front of the church building. Please do not attempt to pass a car during the morning drop off for the safety of all children. Thank you.
FORGOTTEN MATERIALS TABLE
A table has been set up outside the School Office for parents to drop off forgotten materials. All materials such as homework, books, clothing, projects, lunch boxes, etc. must be labeled with the child’s name and grade level. The front office staff will notify your student’s teacher that the materials are at the front office for the student to pick up. For the lower grades (K3-K5) one of our teacher aides will deliver the materials to your child’s classroom.
We wish to remind families that due to Maryland state law, if a student needs to receive any medication at school, we must have a medication form on file signed by your child’s doctor. The medication ordered by the doctor should be sent in the original container with the child’s name on it.
Parents, if for any reason you need to come to school during the day, please remember to check in at the School Office in the gymnasium. No parent or family member should attempt to approach a classroom before first checking in with the School Office. You must sign your name on our register and receive a visitor pass before proceeding to your child’s classroom. This is part of our school security policy and ensures that we have a record of everyone on our campus at all times. Thank you for your cooperation!
Please remember that students who are ill or have a fever are not permitted to attend class and should not be brought to school. A child who wakes up with a fever and is given Tylenol is still a sick child. Please do not send your child to school within a 24 hour period of fever, vomiting or diarrhea. No student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will be allowed to remain in school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
