Thanksgiving break begins Tuesday, November 20th at 12:00 noon. There is no aftercare on Tuesday the 20th. Please be sure to make arrangements to pick up your child at 12:00 noon. School will resume Monday, November 26th. We hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.
LIFETOUCH PORTRAIT MAKE-UP
Picture make-up day is scheduled for Tuesday, December 4th for students who were absent or need a retake. Pictures must be taken in school uniform.
LOST AND FOUND
Items in our Lost and Found will be put on display in the gymnasium from Monday, November 26th through Thursday, November 29th. Items not claimed by Thursday will be donated to charity. Thank you.
SECONDARY AFTERCARE – HOME BASKETBALL GAMES
Students may stay after school for home games with the following guidelines: 1) Only students in grades 7-12 may stay after school for a game without being accompanied by a parent. 2) All students staying after school need to report to the gym bleachers by 3:15 and be subject to the Aftercare policy. 3) No student is to leave the gym (going to Royal Farms, etc.) unless they have written permission from their parents and permission from the Aftercare monitor. Granite Baptist School will not be responsible for the safety of students who leave our campus with or without our knowledge. 4) Students who stay after school for a game will be required to pay the established gate fee. 5) Students attending a game must be in school approved attire. 6) Students staying for a game must have a ride to pick them up as soon as the game concludes.
STUDENT ATHLETE GUIDELINES
As a reminder to our athletes, students must be in school by no later than 10:15 am the day of a game (unless at a doctor’s appointment) in order to participate.
BASKETBALL SEASON PASS
This year we are offering season passes to all of our home basketball games and tournaments. The price is $35 per adult, $20 per child and a $100 family max for immediate family members (i.e. mother, father, child). The regular ticket price is $4.00 per adult and $2.00 per student, per game. If you are interested please come to the School Office to purchase your season pass. Let’s go Braves!
SCHOOL-WIDE CHRISTMAS CONCERT – Friday, December 7th
On Friday, December 7th we will have our annual Christmas Concert entitled “Christmas Stories”. All students in K3-6th grade as well as the high school band, orchestra, choir and drama students will be performing. All students should be dressed in “performance attire”. The concert will start at 7:00 pm. See you there!
STUDENT DROP-OFF—STOP, DROP & ROLL
Parents, please help us in quickly exiting the children from your car in the morning in order to avoid back-ups on Oakwood Road. Please pull all the way down to the second stop sign at the back of the gym. Please have all coats, backpacks and lunches ready and have children exit from the right side of your vehicle. K3-K5 parents should use the lane directly in front of the Kindergarten modular. Parents should not exit their car while in the drop-off line. Thank you!
If GBS is closed or has a delayed opening, you can be notified the following ways: School Cast messaging; our website www.granitebaptistschool.org; our phone messaging 410-761-1118 option 2 and option 2 again; WBAL-TV Channel 11; and WBAL radio AM 1090.
School standard dress must be worn for all school activities. Students are not allowed to change out of their school uniform for any reason other than P.E. or sports practice. Students who are not leaving school immediately after P.E. or practice must change back into their school uniform for aftercare and/or games. Important: Parents please remember that gym shoes for indoor P.E. and for rainy day recess must have a non-marking sole. We recommend Velcro fastened shoes if your child cannot tie his/her shoes.
We wish to remind families that due to Maryland state law, if a student needs to receive any medication at school, (including over-the-counter) we must have a medication form on file signed by your child’s doctor. The medication ordered by the doctor should be sent in with the child’s name on it.
Please remember that students who are ill or have a fever are not permitted to attend class and should not be brought to school. A child who wakes up with a fever and is given Tylenol is still a sick child. Please do not send your child to school within a 24 hour period of fever, vomiting or diarrhea. No student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will be allowed to remain in school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
