SENIOR INFORMATION NIGHT: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th
For our seniors and their parents, please plan to attend this evening especially planned for you. In addition to college information and preparing and taking the SAT, information will be given highlighting the events and activities of the senior year, what to expect, dates, and expenses. The meeting will be in the Great Room at 7 pm and we will finish no later than 8 pm. We are looking forward to an evening of fellowship with you.
NO SCHOOL: TEACHER IN-SERVICE – SEPTEMBER 28th and 29th
Thursday, September 28th and Friday, September 29th all our teachers will be attending our annual Teacher Convention in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There will be no school or athletic practices those days.
PSAT – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11th
Students in the 10th and 11th grades will be administered the PSAT test on Wednesday, October 11th. The PSAT will not only allow us to judge your child’s academic progress up to this point, but will also help to prepare them for the SAT. Parents should ensure students taking the test get as much rest as possible and eat a nutritious meal the morning of the test.
FALL SPIRIT DAY CONCESSIONS – MONDAY, OCTOBER 9TH
We are planning our sixth annual Fall Spirit Day for all students in 1st – 12th grade. We have scheduled a girls middle school volleyball game against Calvary at 12:00 noon, a boys soccer game at 12:30 and a girls volleyball game at 2:00. We will be selling lunch on the field and are looking for some parent volunteers to help run a concession stand during the game. If you are interested please speak to Mr. Clayton or call the School Office. Thank you!
NO SCHOOL: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13TH
School will be closed on Friday, October 13th for a Granite Baptist Church Couple’s Conference. If you are interested in attending this couple’s event please contact the Church Office.
We wish to remind families that due to Maryland state law, if a student needs to receive any medication at school, we must have a medication form on file signed by your child’s doctor. The medication ordered by the doctor should be sent in the original container with the child’s name on it.
STUDENT DROP-OFF—STOP, DROP & ROLL
Parents, please help us in quickly exiting the children from your car in the morning in order to avoid back-ups on Oakwood Road. Please pull all the way down to the second cross walk at the back of the gym. Please have all coats, backpacks and lunches ready and have children exit from the right side of your vehicle. K3-K5 parents should use the lane directly in front of the Kindergarten modular. Parents should not exit their car while in the drop-off line. Thank you!
Parents, if your child has a food allergy we would like you to know that all of our pre-packaged hot foods in the lunchroom have the following on the label: “Food contains wheat, milk, eggs, and soy.” Our cheeseburgers contain sesame seeds. In addition, prior to ordering Chick-fil-a, Pizza Hut or Subway lunches, please investigate their dietary information if your child has a food allergy.
This is a reminder that if you are writing a check to pay your child’s tuition please make sure you have your child’s name and grade on the memo line. Also, we ask that you not write post-dated checks. Thank you!
School standard dress must be worn for all school activities. Students are not allowed to change out of their school uniform for any reason other than P.E. or sports practice. Students who are not leaving school immediately after P.E. or practice must change back into their school uniform for aftercare and/or games. Important: Parents please remember that gym shoes for indoor P.E. and for rainy day recess must have a non-marking sole. We recommend Velcro fastened shoes if your child cannot tie his/her shoes.
LOST AND FOUND
Articles in lost and found may only be claimed from 8:00 – 8:15 am, during lunch or from 3:00 – 3:15 pm. In order to encourage individual responsibility, a fee of $.25 for elementary students and $1.00 for secondary students will be assessed for each claimed item. Demerits will be given to secondary students that habitually lose articles.
Please remember that students who are ill or have a fever are not permitted to attend class and should not be brought to school. A child who wakes up with a fever and is given Tylenol is still a sick child. Please do not send your child to school within a 24 hour period of fever, vomiting or diarrhea. No student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will be allowed to remain in school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
