BOWL-A-THON FOR EDUCATION
The Bowl-a-thon for Education will be on Monday, May 14th. All students who submit at least one brochure will be taken by bus to the Bowl America in Glen Burnie and receive two hours of free bowling and a free pizza lunch. Each student must turn in at least one addressed and stamped brochure in order to attend the Bowl-a-thon. You will not want your child to miss out on the fun! Please have at least one stamped and addressed brochure submitted to the Office by 8:15 am Monday, May 14th. Students who do not submit at least one brochure will remain at school. Please notify your child’s teacher if you are able to be a parent chaperone. In order to qualify for prizes, donations must be received by Tuesday, May 29th.
ATHLETIC AWARDS BANQUET
Tickets for the awards banquet are now on sale at the School Office. This year’s banquet will be on Friday, May 18th at 6:00 pm in the GBS Gym. All that attend must purchase a ticket, including the team members and their parents. The cost of a ticket is $12.00 per person. Children age ten and under are $8.00. The banquet will be catered by the Olive Tree. Thank you for your support of our GBS athletes.
ELEMENTARY ACADEMIC MUSIC ARTS
Congratulations to the elementary students for their excellent performance at the Maryland Association of Christian Schools state fine arts competition.
KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION / K3 – 2nd GRADE PROGRAM
Everyone is invited to attend our Kindergarten graduation on Thursday, May 24th at 7:00 pm. Students in K3-2nd grade will also participate in this program. Please note the last day of school for K3, K4 and K5 students is Thursday, May 24th.
ELEMENTARY FIELD DAY: TUESDAY, MAY 29th
Our annual elementary field day will be held on Tuesday, May 29th from 9:00 – 3:00 on our GBS soccer field. We need volunteers to help with running the games, timing, preparing the awards and distributing the food. This year we are pleased to offer a Subway box lunch for our students and parent volunteers for the price of $7.00 each. Each box contains a 6” Subway sub with chips, drink and a cookie. Please fill out the attached sheet to indicate what you want your child to eat for lunch. If you would be available and would like to help, please complete the attached form and return it to the School Office no later than Thursday, May 24th.
FINAL EXAMS – TUESDAY, MAY 29th – FRIDAY, JUNE 1st
The final exam schedule has been distributed to all secondary students. Please make sure you turn in the Parental Permission form for any exam exemptions. Please note the scheduled graduation rehearsals on Thursday and Friday. All Choir members are required to rehearse from 11:30 – 12:45 on Friday. All Choir members are required to perform at the graduation ceremony.

END-OF-YEAR AWARD CEREMONY – FRIDAY, JUNE 1st
All parents are invited to attend the award ceremony on the last day of school, Friday, June 1st. The elementary award ceremony is at 8:30 am and the secondary award ceremony is at 9:45 am. Dismissal on Friday, June 1st will be at 11:00 am. There is no aftercare on the last day of school.
SENIOR GRADUATION – FRIDAY, JUNE 1st
Everyone is invited to attend our Senior Graduation Ceremony Friday, June 1st at 7:00 pm. We are still in need of a few more parent volunteers to help with the Senior Graduation Reception. If you would like to volunteer to help, please call the School Office.
NO SCHOOL: MEMORIAL DAY
Please note school will be closed Monday, May 28th in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.
All library books should be returned to the school library by Friday, May 25th. There is a $4.00 charge for any lost library book. Your child’s report card may be withheld until all library books are either returned or paid for. Thank you.
REGISTRATION FEE REMINDER
Just a reminder to current GBS families who have not enrolled for the 2017-2018 school year, some of the elementary classes are almost full. A registration fee of $325 per child ($225 for K3/K4) must be paid before your registration can be processed.
SUMMER SCHOOL EXTENSION PROGRAM
Granite offers our school and church family a summer extension program full of fun activities and field trips. This year our summer program will run from Monday, June 18th – Friday, August 10th. We have sent home a summer program flyer and registration form to all our current families. If you are in need of summer child care or are interested in some fun activities for your child, please fill out the registration form and turn it in to the School Office by May 15th in order to receive the early bird discount.
