ATHLETIC AWARDS BANQUET

Tickets for the athletic awards banquet are now on sale at the School Office.  This year’s banquet will be on Friday, May 17th at 6:00 pm in the GBS Gym.  All that attend must purchase a ticket, including the team members and their parents. The cost of a ticket is $12.00 per person.  (Children age ten and under are $8.00.)  The banquet will be catered by the Olive Tree and the menu includes rigatoni pasta, homemade meatballs, chicken Alfredo, oven-baked lasagna, baked chicken parmigiana, salad and bread.  Thank you for your support of our GBS athletes.

 

BOWL-A-THON FUNDRAISER

Thank you to everyone who helped in our school-wide Bowl-a-thon for Education fundraiser.  Even though the Bowl-a-thon has already taken place, we will continue to accept donations toward school improvements.  In order to qualify for prizes, donations must be received by Tuesday, May 28th.

 

KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION / K3 – 2nd GRADE PROGRAM

Everyone is invited to attend our Kindergarten graduation on Thursday, May 23rd at 7:00 pm.  Students in K3-2nd grade will also participate in this program.  Please note the last day of school for K3, K4 and K5 students is Thursday, May 23rd.

 

NO SCHOOL: MEMORIAL DAY

Please note school will be closed Monday, May 27th in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.

 

ELEMENTARY FIELD DAY:  TUESDAY, MAY 28th 

Our annual elementary field day will be held on Tuesday, May 28th from 9:00 – 3:00 on our GBS soccer field.

We need volunteers to help with running the games, timing, preparing the awards and distributing the food.  This year we are pleased to offer a Subway box lunch for our students and parent volunteers for the price of $7.00 each. Each box contains a 6” Subway sub with chips, drink and a cookie.  Please fill out the attached sheet to indicate what you want your child to eat for lunch.   If you would be available and would like to help, please complete the attached form and return it to the School Office no later than Thursday, May 23rd.

 

FINAL EXAMS – TUESDAY, MAY 28th – FRIDAY, MAY 31ST

The final exam schedule has been distributed to all secondary students.  Please make sure you turn in the Parental Permission form for any exam exemptions.  Please note the scheduled graduation rehearsals on Thursday and Friday.  All Choir members are required to rehearse from 11:30 – 12:45 on Friday.  All Choir members are required to perform at the graduation ceremony.

 

END-OF-YEAR AWARD CEREMONY – FRIDAY, MAY 31ST  

All parents are invited to attend the award ceremony on the last day of school, Friday, May 31st.  The elementary award ceremony is at 8:30 am and the secondary award ceremony is at 9:45 am.  Dismissal on Friday, May 31st will be at 11:00 am.  There is no aftercare on the last day of school.

 

SENIOR GRADUATION – FRIDAY, MAY 31ST 

Everyone is invited to attend our Senior Graduation Ceremony Friday, May 31st at 7:00 pm.  We are still in need of a few more parent volunteers to help with the Senior Graduation Reception.  If you would like to volunteer to help, please call the School Office.

 

LIBRARY BOOKS

All library books should be returned to the school library by Friday, May 24th.  There is a $4.00 charge for any lost library book.  Your child’s report card may be withheld until all library books are either returned or paid for.  Thank you.

 

UNIFORM SWAP & SALE

Please see the attached flyer about the upcoming Uniform Swap and Sale.  Please call the School Office if you are interested in helping.

 

REGISTRATION FEE REMINDER

Just a reminder to current GBS families who have not enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year, some of the elementary classes are almost full.  A registration fee of $325 per child ($225 for K3/K4) must be paid before your registration can be processed.

 

SUMMER SCHOOL EXTENSION PROGRAM

Granite offers our school and church family a summer extension program full of fun activities and field trips. This year our summer program will run from Monday, June 17th – Friday, August 9th.  We have sent home a summer program flyer and registration form to all our current families.  If you are in need of summer child care or are interested in some fun activities for your child, please fill out the registration form and turn it in to the School Office by May 10th in order to receive the early bird discount.

 

PARKING LOT SAFETY

Parents, please remember the speed limit on our parking lot is 5 mph at all times.  When dropping off please pull all the way down to the second crosswalk at the back of the gym.  Please do not drive around to the School Office or to a classroom through either one of the rear exits.  Children are not expecting cars to be driven on the parking lot during the school day.  All parents should park out front and walk in to the School Office.  This is for the safety of all our children.  Thank you!

 

STUDENT DRESS

School standard dress must be worn for all school activities including after school games, Saturday tournaments and evening events.  Students are not allowed to change out of their school uniform for any reason other than P.E. or sports practice.  Students who are not leaving school immediately after P.E. or practice must change back into their school uniform for aftercare and/or games.
